Acclaim Security and Encryption
With the ever growing importance of user privacy on the web, our team of engineers has to take security extremely seriously here at Acclaim. Our team has spent, and continues to dedicate, a considerable amount of time making sure access to Acclaim and our customers’ and partners’ data are safe and secure. In this post, we will go over some of these precautions and describe how your information on Acclaim is protected. Click here to read specifically about Acclaim & HIPAA.

All information is secure behind user accounts
Unlike YouTube, Vimeo, and others, no user information (or content) on Acclaim is publicly available. All user information is secure behind password protected accounts.

All passwords are encrypted using 256-bit encryption
Acclaim uses the PBKDF2 algorithm with a SHA256 hash, a password stretching mechanism recommended by U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. We never store unencrypted passwords on our server.

PCI-compliant e-commerce
We leverage best in class e-commerce tools. No credit card information ever touches our servers, but instead, goes directly to our processor ensuring that our transactions are 100% PCI-compliant.

Course access must be enabled by the instructor
Acclaim has a simple and robust organization structure of courses, folders within courses, and media or files within those folders. Access is given at the course level by providing the course link to the appropriate recipients. The only way for one to receive access to the course is to receive the link, click on it, and set up a password protected account.

User and folder permissions
Course instructors have full control of students’ accounts within the application. Course instructors can easily remove any user who has access to a course to which he or she shouldn’t have access. Instructors can also change folder level permissions to decide who can upload, download, and comment on the content. The default states of these permissions add an extra layer of security and course instructors can decide to either keep or alter these permissions.

HTTPS/SSL channels
All information passed between Acclaim and the user’s device is sent via HTTPS/SSL (with 256-bit bank-level encryption). For example, when users log in, edit their profile, or change their password, the information is sent via this secure channel. You may read more about HTTPS here.

Content storage and delivery
Acclaim utilizes Amazon’s cloud-based content delivery service to display content. Content is completely inaccessible except via a private, temporary address that is generated during a user’s session. This allows for private, secure, on-demand access to the content.

Acclaim Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
There are two, key elements included in the Acclaim Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. One, we explicitly state that all content is owned by and the sole responsibility of the end user. In layman’s terms, we don’t own nor do we want to take ownership of your content! Two, though Acclaim has to process files during the upload process, we do not create or maintain extra copies of your content. What this means is that you have full control over your information and files. If you choose to delete anything, it is gone forever.
