Meet Our Leadership Team

Aksel Gungor

CEO

Aksel was born in France, grew up between Paris and Istanbul, then moved to the United States as a teenager. Having grown up in a bilingual household, Aksel became trilingual upon the move to America. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and at 22 years old, became an adjunct professor of Entrepreneurship at his alma mater. He’s also worked with University of Delaware’s Entrepreneurship department as an adjunct professor.

Aksel previously co-founded Ridaroo, a ride-sharing platform connecting drivers and passengers across corporate and university campuses. As CEO of Acclaim, he oversees company and product strategy, as well as partnerships and investor relations. Aksel currently lives in the Italian Market neighborhood of Philadelphia, performs improv shows at a local theater, and is building a card game as a hobby.

David Friedman

CTO

David came to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a B.S. and M.S. in computer science. After realizing that he enjoyed teaching more than research, he left his Ph.D. program to spend a few years at The Shipley School teaching math and computer science.

Since then, he has been in a variety of roles including running a multi-state real estate firm, managing the first engineering team at Venmo, a venture backed startup that would eventually be acquired by PayPal, and launching his own startup in the real estate space. As CTO of Acclaim, David oversees technology, partner integrations, and product strategy. He currently lives in center city Philadelphia and is teaching himself to play piano.

Jameel Farruk

Director of Sales and Marketing

Jameel was born in our nation’s capital, raised in Virginia, is a Redskins and Bullets fan and continues to refuse to accept the name “Wizards”. He comes from a strong background in sales and marketing, having worked with some of the world’s largest brands including Airbus, Eli Lilly, and Verizon. In 2010, he moved to the City of Brotherly Love to join the founding team at Venmo, a venture backed startup that would eventually be acquired by PayPal.

Since then, he has been a co-founder of his own real estate startup, a director at an award-winning digital agency, and is a Lecturer at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. As Director of Sales and Marketing at Acclaim, Jameel is responsible for fostering new client relationships, developing strategic partnerships, and marketing Acclaim to the world. Jameel lives in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia where his time is spent refining his cooking skills and cheering on his alma mater, Indiana University, in basketball.
